Be the Light (Allie Becker)

ree

Constantly throughout this year the word light keeps appearing in different parts of my life. Our church had a series on light this year, when I’m reading my bible I will come across the word light, studies I do bring it up, and even in simple day to day things ill see the word. I feel God heavily placing it in my heart and a strong desire to live it out.

Being a Light has been something I have struggled with my whole life, not sharing and representing God’s grace and truth for others. Living my own life in darkness.

It may sound simple but it comes with great responsibility as followers of Christ.

Ephesians 5;8 tells us “for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light”

‭‭

I often find myself worrying about those I love and their relationship with Christ more than ever. The world is becoming a scary place. The thing is God gives us free will and a choice to take up our cross and follow him. In Matthew 16;24-25 Jesus says “ If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”

We have a great responsibility to represent Christ as His followers to those who may not be following Him. We need to Be the Light.

We are called to Reflect God’s glory, Dispel darkness, and Guide others.

Even if we don’t say anything, the way we live and treat others should be enough to represent God’s light. Yes we as followers will struggle and wrestle with our flesh, but the sacrifice Jesus made for us brings a whole new hope and joy for us all. The longing in our hearts to be in His glorious Kingdom one day with no sorrow or pain.

Matthew 5;14-16 tells us: “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

Let us come to our brothers and sister in Christ, meeting them right where they are at, loving them too much to leave them there. Be the Light in their lives that help lead them to Christ.

A little bit about Allie...

Hi i’m Allie! I was born and raised in California, and have lived in the beautiful state of Alabama for 4 years now! I am a wife and mom. They are two of the most rewarding titles God has given me. I began my true walk with the Lord in 2024 and it brings me such peace and freedom the joy I have found in Him alone. I serve on the care team and women’s ministry at Discovery Church.

Do you believe God is your Shepherd?  Do you believe God is your GOOD Shepherd?  There were lots of flocks in these times but God specifically referred to Him as the Shepherd and us as the sheep.  Why
