I see the way you sigh 

I hear the thoughts that accuse instead of affirm

I know you close your eyes and wish for something better 

You wish you could be prettier

You desire to be more

More like the girl on the phone

Thinner legs, flatter stomach, smoother skin

Every time I gaze in the mirror

There you are again

But I wish you’d move on

I wish you could grasp

The concept called true beauty

Stop hiding behind a mask

We are enough

And we don’t have to be prettier to prove it

To the world you may never be gorgeous 

But let it go

You’re beautiful in God’s eyes

That fueled those morning conversations with this piece of glass
