He's Speaking to You

I am convinced that the Lord is speaking to us far more than we ever realize because we expect Him to speak and move in magnificent ways. We expect Him to speak and move in big ways. We expect these grand moments so we miss the intimate moments. There is a saying: it’s all spiritual and without a doubt, I believe that but sometimes I think we say it but only mean “the battles in my life are only spiritual.” I, though, truly believe that everything is spiritual and it is becoming more evident in the moments in my life. As I keep living and moving, I am seeing it more and more. I think we overcomplicate how God speaks to us. We expect these big signs, audible voices or a repetition of something when really, He can answer so swiftly and in a way that might seem mundane that we miss it.
My word for 2025 was connect and I have made it my mission to connect with God more than I ever have before. I prayed and moved in it. I want to be so connected with Him that there isn’t a hindrance. I want to see and hear Him in everything I do so I have moved in prayer and kept my spiritual eyes open to see what He is doing.
The day my son started preschool was a bit nerve-wracking for me. I wasn’t ready but I was ready. I had been in prayer a lot and that morning during 21 days of prayer I was specifically praying for my son. In the midst of the prayer time, I heard him wake up so I went and laid with him for a bit while praying some more. I asked God to be with my son and just show his love for him. As I walked into the living room from getting him out of bed I heard Jesus You Alone playing. Instantly, I felt the Lord’s presence. That song is what was playing when I delivered my son into the world and it wasn’t playing because of my playlist. No, it was playing from the prayer service on tv. How intimate of God to do that in that moment.
Isn’t God so good? It was such a simple moment that I could have easily missed if I wasn’t aware of how much my Father loves communicating with me- His daughter.
A couple of weeks ago I was walking through a really hard season and felt pure isolation. Some of that had to do with me but a lot of it was circumstantial. It was really hard and I was struggling with why God allowed all of what happened to happen and then for myself to be the one that was isolated and broken. I spent many hours during that week in tears while speaking desperate prayers. I even laid on my closet floor weeping while worship music played. As I stood in our worship service the week after I was talking to God and asking again why I had to walk through what I walked through and I felt the Lord walk me through the week again in my mind but as an outsider watching. It was really hard seeing myself so broken and alone. BUT then God walked me through it again yet I wasn’t alone. Every time God brought an image of mind to that week, I saw myself but with Jesus beside me. I know it might sound silly or cliche but it’s true. I saw Jesus right beside me in every moment. It was like God was showing me that what I needed to learn in that week was that I may have been alone physically but spiritually, I wasn’t. I didn’t need to let people be my comfort because He was.
Again, isn’t He so good? Isn’t He so intimate?
Sister, this isn’t something just for me. It’s not far-fetched. He is speaking to you too. He is your Father Who loves you so much more than you could ever understand or comprehend. He is talking to you but maybe you are looking too hard. He just wants you to see Him in every moment of your life.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
Because He inclined His ear to me,
therefore I will call on Him as long as I live. (Psalm 116:2)
Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7)
