Filled with Freedom (Aviela Groder)

It’s that time of year where freedom is celebrated. As we launch fireworks into the sky, attend barbecues and other activities, and rewatch all the old movies, we enjoy this time of remembrance for our country’s freedom. As the Fourth of July approaches, I can’t help but think about how fleeting and temporary our freedom on this earth is. The reality is, it’s only temporary. It will not last. However, I find hope in the Truth. While our earthly freedom will not last forever, our freedom in Christ WILL last for eternity. The gift of freedom that Christ gives us is one that cannot be taken away. When we lay down our sins, temptations, and issues. When we surrender our choices, actions, and thoughts. When we come before the Father and fully give ourselves to Him, we are filled with His Spirit. With this filling, comes freedom. In this freedom, we find joy, peace, and patience. We see His promises fulfilled and His constant faithfulness revealed. In this freedom, we are able to live a life of purity, fully cleansed from our old ways. But, it has to be our choice. We have to choose to walk in His freedom every day. Just as the Founding Fathers chose to fight for the country’s freedom hundreds of years ago, we are given the opportunity to fight for our spiritual freedom. This world is full of trials, tribulations, troubles, tears, and temptations. Yet, Christ overcomes it all. Each morning His mercies are new. We may stumble, make the wrong decisions, and fall off the path, but He is still holding on. We only have to choose to step into His freedom.

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17

A little bit about Aviela...

I'm a recent high school graduate passionate about health and wellness, and I love investing in my community. My favorite activities include worship, cooking, babysitting, writing poetry, and going on walks. I’m especially inspired by Esther from the Bible—her story encourages me to faithfully follow God’s path, even when it’s challenging.
