His Grace is Enough. (Summer Neely)

Have you ever felt like life has knocked you flat on your behind? And every time you try standing up, something just pushes you back down. Then when you finally get back on two feet, you trip and fall flat on your face?

Don’t worry sister. I’ve been there too. I’ve been there more times than I can count. Sometimes I feel like I’m barely keeping my head above the water.

I recently went through a week where anything that could go wrong did. I had two new projects thrown onto my desk at work that had to be done in a week, my son was cutting not one, but two new teeth, and I spent three days sick as a dog from food poisoning. Not to mention we were in the middle of a winter storm. If you’re from the south, you know that means we’re stuck at home for at least 24-48 hours before it’s safe enough to get out on the roads. To top the whole thing off, I cut my hand and needed 4 stitches. Then, my husband ended up sick. The enemy was working hard on me.

Safe to say, I had had enough. I was done. I found myself frustrated and tired. I had given everything I had and nothing was helping. I had come to the end of my rope. I had nothing more to give. I had thrown up my hands and waved my white flag.

But then…I heard a voice.

My grace is sufficient for you.

In 2 Corinthians 12:9 it says: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

I don’t have to be strong. I don’t have to be enough. Where my power and will end, that’s exactly where the Lord’s begins. When I am not enough, He is sufficient. When I have nothing else left, He will supply all I need. Jesus meets me in my weakness. I choose to have joy during the hard times, because in my weakness His strength and power overflow.

The next time you feel like you’re drowning, remember we serve a savior that walks on water. We serve a God that can calm a storm just by the sound of His voice. What can’t he do for us?

Sister, we aren’t meant to have it all together. We aren’t meant to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. All we have to do is put our troubles, our worries, our chaos, into the hands of Jesus. There’s nothing He can’t handle. His grace is enough. The unmerited favor of God is all we need. We are going to make it because Jesus already won the battle. Grace is all we need.

If you feel like you need a little more grace today, pray this prayer:

Father, I can’t do this alone. I have nothing more to give. I need you. I have reached my limit, but I know that where I end, you begin. You are in control. You are enough. I am standing firm in your grace. There is nothing you cannot handle. The battle belongs to you. Thank you Jesus, for fighting with me, and for fighting for me when I can’t fight. I trust you. I am weak but you are strong. Amen.

A little bit about Summer...

I am happily married to Dustin (aka Neely) and a full-time working mom of a one-year-old. I serve on the church’s small group and creative teams. I love Target runs, baking when I can, and anything true crime. The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego recently reminded me that God calls us by name and is with us, even in the fire.

Do you believe God is your Shepherd?  Do you believe God is your GOOD Shepherd?  There were lots of flocks in these times but God specifically referred to Him as the Shepherd and us as the sheep.  Why
