Kingdom Living Mindset

One of the greatest things I ever learned was not to wait until death to bask in the eternity of Christ. We can live in eternity now with a Kingdom Living mindset. A Kingdom Living mindset is when you are always looking for opportunities to be like Jesus. You look for ways to serve, love, and speak life.
This won’t come naturally. It is so countercultural. That is why we have to do what Paul urges us to do in Colossians:
“Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming. You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world. But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language. Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds. Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.”(Colossians 3:2–10)
Put on your new nature.
Spend time with Jesus to know that new nature. You can’t know what He has for you if you don’t even know who He is.
The saying is true: “You are who you hang out with.” As cheesy as it sounds, we need to spend so much time with Jesus—studying the Word, worshiping, and praying—that we begin to look like Him. It should be evident whether we spend more time with Jesus or with the world by the way we live and act.
You put on your new nature by being continually renewed in your relationship with Christ. Think about the time you spend with a good friend or mentor at a coffee shop or while taking a walk. You share, ask for guidance, and simply spend time together. Usually, you walk away refreshed. That is how it should be with God.
Remember that everything is in Him and for Him.
“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”(Colossians 3:23)
We aren’t doing this for our own glory or recognition. We are living out the Kingdom of God in service, love, and action because God saved us and has called us to live for Him.
There are some things we won’t always want to do, but we must honor the Lord in them. He will give us the heart, desire, and blessing as we walk in what He has called us to do.
“Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”(Matthew 6:33)
Never stop looking for opportunities from God.
At the end of Luke 4, Jesus was teaching, and the people wanted Him to stay, but He said there was more to do. He wasn’t sent to save one person or one group—He was sent to save all. (Luke 4:43)
Jesus came to save all and was constantly on the move to spread the Good News… the Gospel.
We also see in John that not everything Jesus did was recorded, but from what we do see, He never let an opportunity pass Him by. He was always looking. We need to do the same, constantly looking and asking God to reveal His opportunities to us. This helps us fight the idea that we can be so heavenly minded that we are no earthly good.
Honestly, it is really hard to see the world right in front of us from a spiritual perspective. Nine times out of ten, the spiritual doesn’t align with the physical. In fact, it often pushes against it. But the Lord calls us to think and act in ways that are counterintuitive to the world. We do this by allowing Him to lead and guide us as we abide in Him and He abides in us.
Remember that He gives grace, and we should too. Start small. Focus on one characteristic you need to grow in and study it for a day, a week, or even a month. Study it by reading Scripture and listening to podcasts or sermons. Then ask God to show you how to live it out. Once your life begins to reflect that characteristic, move on to another. We are human, and we need His guidance and practice to magnify Him. The Bible tells us that as we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us.
So just start. Start learning what a Kingdom mindset is, and then pursue it. Grab your sisters and pursue it together. I promise it’s worth it, and it makes life so much more beautiful
